Default AIR FOIL PLOTS???

Is there such a thing as a list of plotted airfoils in a DFX or similar file format that can be downloaded and plugged in to a cad program?

I've been looking at some of the airfoil programs and it seems since I already have Draftsite (though I still don't really know how to use it) taht most if not all these airfoil programs are just glorified CAD software limited to airfoils. If one had a NACA file it would be a snap to make your own templates or whatever.

OK, my flame suit is on.....

Yes, try "on-line airfoils":

Use www.compufoil.com for all the airfoils you'll ever need. Dan.

I've used [link=http://www.cncplusplus.com/AeroPlot/Aero%20Plot.htm]Aeroplot[/link] to generate DXFs for CAD use.

Here is another site with airfoils as well. [link=http://www.worldofkrauss.com/]Airfoil Database.[/link]

This is more along the lines of what I was thinking about. Trying to do this on the cheap I am looking at building a kind of a foamy hybrid. It may all be for naught but I thought it would be worth a try. I found this plane on the web and am making, or closer to the truth, trying to make a few changes to suit me for an electric airplane. I suck at the internet so I hope my image attaches

Yup, didn't work like I wanted,[] Open a new tab or window and it should be there

Are the airfoils trying to take over the world again?

Here are a couple of my favorite sites...

http://www.ae.illinois.edu/m-selig/a..._database.html

and

http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/

More airfoils than anyone will ever use.

Enjoy!

What airfoil are you looking for? I could generate it and email you the dxf.

I'm not looking for anything in particular right at the moment. I'm trying to learn Draftsite so right now it is a lot if experimentation. The plan for the airplane I posted was already done and I found it on some site so I'm playing around with it, breaking it apart and moving stuff around. I need to learn how to draw for real though. It will come sooner or later.

I guess if I was looking for an particular foil it would need to be something that would make a good aerobatic airfoil. I plan on doing the whole plane in foam and maybe cover it with 1/2 or 3/4 ounce glass with either epoxy or polyurethane (water base) The airfoil that is included with the plan looks "right" but, in reality I have no idea what it is. I'll give this a try first, see how it flies and go from there. Changes are inevitable and nothing is written in stone.

Thanks for the offer Tim!! I'm thinking this may turn into a winter project????

Sure Ken,
There are several aerobatic foils guys use not to familar with those since I mainly design smaller warbirds and have about 4 different ones I use on them that fly well.

Try asking some of the 3D guys in another forum what there using and good luck with Your project.

Best Tim
