Close up of my hand made hardware I am using on the DR-1... Control horns, control surface hinges, and wing skid holder...
The top airlon control hornis a eye catcher on DR-1 photos so I had to have one,,, convintional pushrod well hook up to the bottom of the horn, and the top well have a dummy pull cable attached going into the wing just for looks.

I thought I had decided on the Zenoah twin engine to set into the Dr-1 but I have second thoughts now,,, I was going to go with the Zenoah twin, than I thought I can use a Quadra 75 in it, the Quadra vibrates a little morethan the G-62 or Zenoah but again the Dr-1 airframe is a bit more stiffer than the Neuport and it should hold up good...
That way I can use the smoother twin in the Neuport 17 which now has a G-62 turning a 24x8 prop, it flys great on this power setup, but if I had the Q-75 or the twin in it I could turn a 24x10 prop and up the performance a little... I like the dummy rotary on the Neuport so I am hoping the engine switch out lets me keep the dummy rotary in place.

I got a nice fit on the Quadra 75 I mounted on the DR-1,, looks like I did not build enough offset into the firewall so it is a simple matter of setting a 1/8" ply spacer under the engine mount, than fitting the cowl unto the airplane.

For the paint job,,, I first sprayed a tan colored latex flat paint, than applied a thin coat of clear coat over it,,, after that I took a piece of damp rag and dipped some darker brown paint on itand streaked the rag over the tan paint.

Rigged up a small nozel on a bottle of canopy glue and placed a dab 1" appart on the fabric surfaces to use as rib stiching, than applied 1/2" fabric strips over it after the glue dried...
Painted the bottom side of the wings and fuselage blue.

Using Great planes 4/40 pushrods for the elevator and rudder, it goes inside a plastic sleeve so there is no binding or flexing, works good... Made a battery and radio tray removable so I can install a 24 0z. fuel tank latter... need to paint the lower and mid wing tops tan yet.
The landing gear struts are 1/4" wire withgusset welded on the bottom to attach the gear wing, and it has a longated hole to allow the axle to travell up and down with bungee wrapped around the axle and the two smallhooks on the gusset.

A look at the blue underside of the wings and the top side I just painted tan,,, with the wings painted and streaked the bottom and mid wing are mounted,,, I am using cardboard as a template for the cover over the mid wing at the fuselage, the cover well be cut out of thin aluminum roof flashing material.

I got the sheet metal painted brown,,, I hope this is the last time I have to spot fill the inperfections on the cowl and move on to the final paint. I used chart tape and some sheet metal screws to add some detail to the fiberglass cowl.

I have the final coat of paint on my cowl, it is as good as it will be, the fiberglass is very brittle and developes fine cracks hard to cover up... I am waiting for the stain on the rear gear strut cover to dry so I can get it glued on and clear coat it.

Thanks Charlie... The tail wheel, I took a piece of hardwood and drilled a 1//8" hole for the wheel wire to pass through to give a good secure mounting, and placed a control arm on the 1/8" wire which the rudder servo linkage attaches to, from there it has a short linkage to the rudder.

I was hopeing another nice day to get outside and start the Q-75 engine but that will not happen soon, the weather in Michigan is back to being cold and wet... anyway a photo of the servos for (2) elevator, rudder, and throtle installed along with a radio and battery tray.
