Transmitter case: DIY from scratch!
Hey there!
I want to show you my recent transmitter case, which I built from scratch.
I used plywood with 20mm thickness.
Enjoy...

I voted for wood dowels in order to assemble the box. The are 8mm thick and 35mm long! Also I used plain wood glue.

Next comes the painting with something called "cassia". Many furnitures are painted with this powder, which comes from a tree ( [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acacia]Acacia [/link] ) and can be dilluted with water.

First you try the paint that you made in a spare piece of plywood so that you test the density and colour.
Don't use a brush to paint the box because you will end up with markings...

If you think that in certain areas the surface of the box is course, you can sand it with very very thin sandpaper!
The next step is to clear coat it...I prefer the water based!

Let it dry for 2 hours ( mine dried pretty quickly ) and apply the next two or three coats! Use a soft brush.
I have to point though that the first layer may be diluted with water at a percentage of 70-80% clear coat & 30-20% water.
This way all the tiny holes of the surface of the wood will be evenly filled!

First test fit all the items that you are going to install....As you see i used my Dremel to drill the holes for the hinges.

Wow, quite the piano case ! !
Good workmanship, nice fittings, way to go! What does it weigh? Will you line it with foam?
