Default Scratch Build / Wing Loading

I am almost complete with a Scratch Build Float Plane.
I am concerned I did not make the wing loading enough as I didn't calculate the Float weight / Built afterwards.

Electric setup with HiMaxx - HC3522-0990 rated up to 85 oz models

Total Model weight w/floats = 3.5 lbs - 56 ozs
Main Wing Area = 324" - 2.25 ft sq.
24.88 oz/ft

Seems a little high to me.

I went with a slight under camber on the rib design to assist with lift off the water - that was the theory anyway.
Can someone chime in and give me your thoughts. I am ready to build another wing un-sheeted going to 48" if needed.

Thanks!

Wing loading is not terrible; go ahead and verify the cubic wing loading to make sure.

Maybe the picture's angle, but the tail surfaces look a little too big respect to the wing and ailerons' area.

Thanks Lnewqban:
I have some shaping to do on them which reduce them a tad but over all width in the picture on the horizontal stab is 16" and height is 5.5 from top of fuse.

Here is the Cube Load

jw, that's not a bad WL. Be sure to include the aileron area as part of the wing. By the way, those ailerons look a little small from here. Each one should have around 6 to 7 percent of the wing area. Dan.

All Day Dan - I should have had them on the wing but the Picture would make them look small, They protrude, and I did not calculate them into the original. Did not know you could use that as part of the wing but I guess it is part of the flying surface.
I can add reduce another oz wing load for that.

Here is the aileron configuration.
Appreciate the information!

A wing cube loading of 16 is quite high, that will be a hand full to fly.

Subscribed... because I'm curious about the choices going ahead and how they go. I'm thinking another bay... or two.

Well, after deliberation and the input from you all. Better safe than sorry. I have decided to increase the wing to 50".
This will give me a wing area of 450" and reduces the Wing and Cube load.

Not worth the risk[]

jw, you can never go wrong with more wing area until you don't have enough empennage area. You also will have to contend with the huge amount of area the floats represent. I can't help you since I have no experience with the type of model you are designing. Here's a set of very basic design guidelines from long ago. Dan.

Well, thought I would post a closer for this.
Here is the finished product less the servo connections and rudder system, since completed after this picture was taken and I am ready to go to the pond.. or snow if the winds would stop.

Went out and flew it today. Took off in a short run up, Flew level off the start and no slow flying stall characteristics. Did one barrel roll, happy with the design.
The power on the other hand is another issue. The battery only lasted 2 minutes and started to die rapidly. Now comes the electrical questioning.

Thanks for the support!
