Bomac,
Beautiful work on this project....Looks like you are laying your own glass parts as you go? Would there be any chance that you would be selling fiberglass parts in the future?
Also, which materials did you use in making up the gear? Tubing, solder, etc...Were you working from another plan? I thought the Pilot kit only showed wire gear?
Thanks in advance.
Gordon

Hi Gordon,
Second time lucky.Ok, Sydney and I have totally scratch build the second Tiger. I pulled the molds from my Original tiger moth kits some 20 years ago. If you would like a Set, we can gladly make you a set for the cost of the materials. Only thing I never had a mold of was the original fuel tank, but one I made from Litho, I am toying with the idea of pulling a mold off this take once completed. The parts for the Tiger or Not available commercially and the Traplet ones are really atrocious in our opinion, Sydneys tank is a traplet one, and we are not impressed.
The Undercarriage was copied off my Tiger Moth which is getting a remodel and is made from 8mm boiler brass tubing, covered with profile K&B aluminium and spring steel. The functioning of the undercarriage is fully sprung and is almost perfectly scale. The original kits was just Spring steel, and it served it purpose, but this is just awesome compared to those. We can make one of those too if you need
Here is an update on the build, we are almost ready for paint.

So I pulled the mold for the Anti-stall strakes the other day, and I decided I need to pull a part out of the un-seasoned, not even polished mold (i'm in a hurry OK) so I put PVA release in and then did the layup inside. this is a real complex shape very tight, and I decided to actually vacuum the part into the corners.
Some Vacuum bagged hub Cap's anyone?

thanks Gordon, I just finished the second layup 10 minutes ago, it's in the bag. Best of this all is I built the vacuum pump quite while back but never really had a use for it because most layups are pretty easy. I will have a second set of hubcaps by the the morning. Our two Tiggies are getting close to done, we just need to do some rigging and spraying and then some more scale details. But the scale competition / get together is now less than a month away and I also have a U-2 to finish, got the decals for that today, so hopefully weather permitting this weekend we will be spraying three aircraft.
anyways I'm off to bed, have a good day
Oh... have a look here we have a local build thread too http://www.avcom.co.za/phpBB3/viewto...?f=16&t=117795

I have been quite surprised by the amount of people looking for parts to a 1/4 scale Tiger moth. So much so, that after this project I will be pulling a really thick set of items out the molds and will re-work the molds to provide a better quality product essentially to those that are looking for a set. Depending on how the second set of strakes coming out the mold this afternoon, ,I may even split that mold to produce a better item.

The Pilot kits are long gone and I've read the Falcon kits can be a tough build...I'm not familiar with the Clark Industries kit....Duncan Hutson's plan set is still available, but I don't believe there are any other kits in quarter scale....
