Default thrown together plane

So, I started designing this plane over a year ago, wanted a plane to look like the Pilatus porter. I designed the fus, and vert stab/rudder. the wings are from a T-craft, the horizontal stab from a super chipmunk, elevator from a kadet senior, struts from a citabria as well as the first landing gear, second landing gear was from a Sukhoi. The plane weighs in at about 13 pounds wet.

First 4 flight it had a ASP .90 2 stroke on it, took a lot of runway to get airborne, but one in the air, was fast but its tail fell in every turn needing rudder to keep straight.
Flights 4,5,6 flew on a 1.08 ASP 2 stroke, take off was a little quicker, not much better and flight characteristics were much better with a enlarged vert stab and rudder. speed remained the same.
and last weekends flights 7,8 flew a OS 1.20 FS 4 stroke, take off was super quick, flight was slower, but very nice and smooth. the landing gear was swapped out as well with a cowl installed.

overall, for a thrown together plane, it flies much better then I thought. we call it the platus putter or platus putz. some folks call it the aardvark.

I love it! You don't see another one like it at the field and you had the fun of building and experimenting with. This what R/C flying is all about! GOOD JOB!

thank you very much! your right, theres nothing else like it at the field. Today I built a new gear for it due to its bad habit of wanting to nose over on landings. As the plane slows down it slowly noses over with full elevator engaged. ill post a pic when its finished.

Flew great today with the new gear...its more bouncey then the rest....but wont nose over. Looking into making a lower wing now so I can fly it as a bipe if I want.

Sweet looking aircraft!! How does she taxi with the castering tail wheel? I finally hooked up my Tiger II tail wheel with some thread to the servo, have not tried it yet though. Are you going to post any video of the beast in flight?Calvi

it has no problems with taxing. it moves along nicely on the ground. as long as you bump the throttle as you hit the give it rudder it starts into its turn no problem. Ill see about a video maybe this weekend. My wife usually takes my pics for me, but she works this weekend.

Flew it off a concrete runway today..easier to take off..but landing...it bounces pretty bad..flew 2 times.

The 2nd wing has been built..all I have to do is shape the leading edges and attach the wings to the fus. The wing tips will have braces attached to the struts since the struts are just above and fwd of the wing.
