    stephen arko 1/4 scale sport build Question

    hi
    i am building this plane from plans a stephen akro 1/4 sport scale 75-90 2 stroke or a 80-1304 stroke i needto get about 1-1/2 to 2" more in the cowl area or motor box the fuel tank 16 oz sits in the motor box area and i plan on using a DLE 30 which has a total lenght of 6.37 " where do i start the main frame that is the motor box and wing saddle how and where would i lenght it thanks ryeClick image for larger version.

    Rye, Extend the doubler forward the distance you need and enlarge the motor mount surface, the vertical part on the doubler, to fit the DLE. Use 1/8 aircraft plywood for the doubler and at least 1/4 aircraft plywood for the firewall. Epozy the motor mount to the double and use hard wood triangular stock where it meets the doubler. You don't need to make a slot. Leave the wing saddle where it is. Balance the plane to the same CG shown on the plans. Dan.
