I'm waiting on the LHS to get me a roll of white Monokote so I can finish covering. I weighed the components and here's the numbers:

Fuse with most covering on it: 3.5 lbs
Ailerons, tail surfaces, hatch: .75
Engine/Ignition: 2.27
All radio inc. batts: 1.30
Land. gear: .53
tank: .17
Total: 8.5 pounds.

Ailerons uncovered, plus it does not include linkages. Assuming it hits an even 9 pounds, with 960 squares of area, it works out to 21 ounces per square foot wing loading. Shouldn't be much of a problem to fly!

Let me guess they had every other color of Monokote but white in stock? That is the way my luck runs.

In the mean time......

Further proof of my mental state:

DLE 20cc, 60 inch span, 48 inch length, one-piece design, 9.5 pounds. With a 17x6 it climbs straight up til I can't see it anymore, the flat spins inverted til 50 feet off the runway and recovers in 1/2 turn.
So much fun I'm considering one with a 55cc engine and a 2-piece wing......

I have been considering something kind of like that as a home for my BME 44....

I'd say a 60" fuse, plus rudder and 84" span for that big an engine. I'm currently imagineering a bigger version for a 35cc engine. The 20cc version has about 15 flights so far and has been a pleasure. Check Youtube for some short clips entitled "20cc Notforsale."

Hmm... Looks like a good mental state to me! (Not easy typing with my nose while wearing a jacket with sleeves tied in the back)
