After attaching the tailwheel assy to fuse ( pic attached) I mounted motor and piled remaining bits in fuse ( servos , battery , etc then weighed again . Ready to cover she's at 33 lbs . I'm wondering if I should set the zenoah g62 aside and put the DA 100 I have on her !? Have to make a new cowl if I do . I would drop almost two lbs in motor weight and gain almost 4 hp. What would you all do?

A DA 100 is heavier than a G-62 so I don't see how you will be almost 2 lbs. lighter by swapping engines.

Hey Bob, my g62 is mag fired and has the recoil spring start. It weighs 6 lbs on my postage scale. My Da100 weighs 4.25 lbs but as I typed this reply I realized I didnt weigh the stock headers or electronic ignition. So weights are going to be very close to same I guess. Ouch , I just thought of battery for Da ignition ! Well Bob , at my age I can claim another " senior moment " ( egg on face appropiate here! ) . I've never used these large motors before , they've only sat on my shelves!
So , I really wouldnt be gaining anything but " grunt" eh?

I think for this type of airframe I would stick with the G-62, that would just be my personal preference.

B Matthews , what would you think of hoerner wingtips added to Bertha? , aside from the added 16" to wingspan that is . I've attached a pic of a roughed out shape .

Bob , you are a kindly soul ❗you must be to reply to a old man thats attempting to stir up some " out of the box " aerodynamic folderol discussion.
So ..... While youre so inclined ..... What would you think of some vg 's all along those purty wings❓

You can certainly place them, but to be honest... I don't think you need them.

Hmmmmm, I really want it to slow way down for landing , but to also retain a lot of control at slow speed . After reading one modelers experience with a 1/3 scale super cub using ultralight vg's from Aircraft Spruce I got all hot and bothered to use them. I guess BMatthews advice on the airfoil has me more worried than I realized.

Well you started with 2508 sq.in. of wing area, then added the wing tips giving you now 2812 of wing area, this is all working in your favor.
