Sukhoi SU-26MX
Hi all.
I found some plans on the internet of a Sukhoi su-26mx. It has a wingspan of 149cm and a length of 123,4cm.
It doesn’t stand anywhere which engine I should use, and I wonder what you guys think I should have, I'm thinking on an os 46fx.
And I wonder if you think it is a good second plane.
Any that wants this set of plans (4 sheets in .dwg format) can just send me there e-mail and I will mail them to you.
(Here is some picks of one that is finished)
Marcel

RE: Sukhoi SU-26MX
Hi Neo,
I like Sukhois, and that one is about the size of my old Cermark. Mine was sold as a sixty size, and I use a 91FX. It's a bit overpowered, snaps & rolls like it's on gimbals, lands fast, and I love it.
Now, your question was "...if you think it is a good second plane." I'm thinking this would be a good building project, while you're getting well versed in gentle flying low-wing taildraggers. Unless you've mastered the low-wing taildragger with mild flying characteristics, most Sukhois are a handful.
Just my 2 cents worth! Good luck,
Dave Olson

Definitely this is not a second plane
However, a great one loved the flying
characteristics of it, have casted a FiberGlass
cowl and vacumed the canopy .....
A great scratch project, used two futaba 148
servos for elevator, and one for each aileron
and rudder is pull-pull.

RE: Sukhoi SU-26MX
Here is the website it is on Swedish but it should not be so hard to understand, the plans i found is under "Low wing" category.
I really love that page, there is almost 400 plans in eleven categories, in the low winged category there are 83 plans.
But it is something weird, on the specifications it stands that it will be 120 cm but in reality it is only around 80cm.
And the wing span is only little more than 100cm.

RE: Sukhoi SU-26MX
Great site! Lots of info!
But I think I go wit one smaller that I found. It’s very strange that I have a smaller version. But on the specs it stands it should be larger. It is the same plans.
I think this one I found will be good for an os 40 fx and I think I will go on that.

RE: Sukhoi SU-26MX
Another question, the plane will have pretty small wings and it will only have a wingspan of 95cm. I wonder if the wing load will be too high. The wing area will be around 18dm2, so with a weight of 1,5kg the wing load will be 83g/dm2 and that’s too much right?
And will a OS.25 FX de good, it only weight 250g.
And W-150 servos to elevator an ailerons weight: 13.4g
A standard servo s3004 to ruder weight: 37.2g
Receiver battery standard weight: 93g
Receiver weight: 40.5g
?Tank 8oz weight: 250g?
Total weight: 710.9g with fuel.
+model maybe 500g, 710.9+500=1210.9g. That will be a wing load of 67g/dm2.

Hey Neo
That drawing is from Erik Middeldorp and if you had looked at his homepage you would have found that it should be a .90 engine on that one. Has anybody scratch build it and was it hard to do (i'm building a Pitts S1 and a Gee Bee Z right now)?

RE: <span class=
Neo, if you scaled the plans to 95 cm I would say that would be too small for a 25. IF you can build it VERY light you would be OK but for a 25 you would be much better off to scale it up to about 120 to 130 cm and still build it very light. No more than 3 pounds to ensure good vertical performance.
95 cm is getting down to 1/2A territory. A Norvel 074 would be great in one that size. Just keep the weight down to about 24 or less ounces to ensure decent vertical performance. That would call for mini radio equipment as well.
