1:3rd scale Piper Super Cub
I have always liked the Piper Super Cub simply for the ease of making the front cowling. Never much liked the idea of making dummy engine heads etc for the J3. I am going to start drawing the plans for this plane on CAD hopefully this week and thought I would start a thread showing the work as I progress from start of design to finish of the building and covering (maybe even produce a nice video of the first flights etc).
I have a couple of sites already with good detailed pictures of the cub but I would appreciate any links to sites so I can get a look at different colour schemes. I dont fancy going with the normal blue/white or red/white as seen on this particular aircraft.
I will be designing everything as close to scale as possible with only minor deviations to improve flight characteristics. I will be frabicating true to scale hinges, control lines and undercarriage. I will also be drawing both the land and water versions.
I know this looks like a tall project but I have been scratch building without plans for about 5yrs and flying for over 15yrs now. If all goes well I may be interested in marketing the aircraft either as a plan just or maybe offer pre-cut ribs, formers etc. Let me know what you think would be best. I have facilities to mass produce all metal parts (hinges, horns, undercarriage etc) so this is not a problem. We also have vaccum forming and injection moulding machinery to produce front cockpit screen and cowling etc (if I decided to make it this way). I am not a fan of glassfibre. Another possibility I will look at will be Carbon Fibre cowling.

RE: 1:3rd scale Piper Super Cub
I have a similar thing going on for a J3-Cub, although I have no plans to market. You (or anyone) can check out my plans if you like and download them and change them as you need to make a super cub. It might save you some drawing time if you haven't already started. The scale on mine is about 1/7 scale with a ws of only 7.5 feet, but it could be easily scaled up. The plans are Acad 2002 format and the zip link isn't working right now because of my web service, so you'll have to either download the rar file or the actual dwg file. Both are available. Also, there are float plans include in the dwg file.
