RE: Converting plans to kit
I'm always a fan of doing it myself. You have the plans after all.
If the plans are in .dwg or .dfx format on your computer, there are a few places that will CNC them for you, but I don't know what the cost or turn arround time would be. If you go to the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Where_to_find_what_you_want%3A/m_1063414/tm.htm]Scratch Building, Aircraft Design, 3D/CAD >> Where to find what you want[/link] thread, it covers a few places that CNC laser cut parts. Here is the list witout working links:
Northeast Aerodynamics http://www.ne-aero.com/
Kit Cutters Inc. (714) 962-8100 http://www.kitcutters.com/
Litko Aerosystems, Inc. (219)988-5708 www.litkoaero.com

RE: Converting plans to kit
Have done numerous such situations over the past ten years now. The big problem always is the quality of the plans. So many plans from a kit manufacturer only indicate to place certain part number in a certain location. If you do not know the exact shape of the part, you cannot determine a proper fit. Thus always difficult to indicate a complete conformance to plans. I have been working on a replica of a Tri-Pacer from a kit for a few years now, and we have yet to locate enough parts to determine proper shape to parts.
Then again, if the design is old, the customer usually will want to incorporate a few design changes. Especially if the plans relate to an old controlline design.
