RE: Not4Sale
It's beautiful. I have had one for about four years that I got at a club auction at a very good price. Everybody was looking for big stuff. I flew it for three years on an OS .25FSR that was on its ninth plane. I reengined it with an OS .25FX last year and had a totally different plane, very fast and agile. Mine is a beautiful flyer and will do just about any manouver you want. I hope you have good luck with yours.

Yes, I did the maiden yesterday and today ... the plane is most agile but needs speed, the elevator needs more air over it to be responsive. Trying to get used to that ...

RE: Not4Sale
Hey there,
That's a nice looking plane you have. I've built this same plane twice from plans I got from a 1993 (I think) issue of MAN Magazine. I still have the second one and even scaled down and built a third brushless electric version out of foam board. All of these planes were excellent and easy flying for me. I like to throttle up on take off and do a big loop and land. They have a really thick wing and slow down quickly when the power is cut with a nice slow glide. I think I even saw a small ad in a magazine where this plane was offered as kit a while back. Here's some pics of the second .46 powered glow version and the smaller electric foamy. Fun Planes!

RE: Not4Sale
I built the electric Not4sale from Sturdy Board foam poster board with the paper skin removed. I cut the pieces out first. then soaked them in the bathtub with warm water for a few hours and the paper rubbed off fairly easily. I scanned the plans into my computer right out of the magazine to get the top and side profiles and then traced over the profile in AutoCAD to make the plans they way they would need to be for building this plane with a 30" span out of the 3/16" thick foamboard. The 2 glow versions I built were from the original designer's plans that I purchased from Model Airplane News Plan service. All the foam control surfaces as well as the rest of the plane are covered with lightweight silkspan and water based Minwax Polycrylic clear finish. It's just like the old tissue and dope method except that the Polycrylic doesn't attack the foam and won't give you brain damage from the vapors. This adds a lot of rigidity and ding resistance to the plane. I mainly used Aileen's Tacky Glue (from Wal-Mart's Craft section) to build this plane and cheap crafter's acrylic paint was airbrushed on for the color. The only balsa used was some 1/4"x3/8" spars on the top and bottom of the foam ribs and some 1/4" square stringers along the length of the four corners of the fuselage. In retrospect I feel the spars and stringers were way oversize and really altogether unnecessary on this plane. This was my first plane built out of foam this way and turned out more sturdy than I expected. Weight could have been saved by eliminating the hard balsa. To power this plane I used an Aveox 27/13/4 brushless motor with a Mega 2.5:1
gearbox and 8 heavy Sanyo 1400mah A cells. The motor slipped into a cardboard tube from a roll of gift wrap and held in place by a lite-ply plate. It all weighed around 30oz. at flight weight. This is heavy, but it still flew pretty well. It sinks kind of quickly with the power off, but not too bad. Rolls are nice and axial, but very fast if throws are set high. I'm tempted to build this plane again out of foam, but much lighter and power it with some lighter cells now available. I didn't build in any cooling vents on this plane and the motor did get hotter than I liked, but not so bad to damage anything.
Oh, I found a pic of the first glow power Not4sale I built back in 1994, but I don't think any of mine look as nice as tIANci's plane

RE: Not4Sale
Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. You did a terrific job. I'm going to re-engine mine and may try an OS .30FS that has been waiting for a good home. The beauty of mine is its ability to take off in thick grass. It kind of swims as it gets up speed to take-off. I've been looking for photos of mine but I don't think they're on this computer. I'll have to check my photo CD's.

Sorry guys ... I was away from this thread. I am running a TT 46 on it. Its a nice plane but handles very differently, needs speed into turns as it seems to loose height in turns.

Here's mine. ST .40 on the front. Waiting for a maiden. Need to re-do the pull-pull on the rudder to get rid of the slop there first. Added wire braces for the elevator, as it seemed too flexible.

RE: Not4Sale
Blaine designed this at our field in Crystal River, Fl. It is and always will be one of the easiest flying fun-fly airplanes to ever exist, build it exactly by the plans and you will be very happy with it. Blaine originally taught me how to fly with my Goldberg trainer after about 3 flights with that he took me up on the Notforsale and the rest is History. There was actually a .20 size, a .40 size, and a giant scale that flew with a G62.

Who origonally sold the kit ? I didn't know there was a kit. Is there build instructions? If so could you e.mail me a copy? I bought one at a swap meet and stripped it down to re cover it. I had many hours in getting it ready to recover until my kid who was a baby at the time , layed down next to it and kicked it to death. I think he had a great time. I was devastated as I never got to fly it. I now have a set of plans and a build is in my near future.

Here's some brief videos from the test flight day:

I wish we had been able to video the flat, inverted spins, which are my favorite. From 100 feet it made at least 30 turns before I pulled out with altitude to spare. Several trim adjustments were made and the fuel tank mounted behind the spar and the c/g presented no problems. It needed no forward stick when flying inverted. Most of the flying was at 1/2 throttle and it appears to climb straight up at full power and doesn't seem to fall off. Pretty much will climb straight up to the limits of my vision.I'll try different props on the next outing but all-in-all, a fun plane to fly.
