Default Fourmost/Miter saw?sander?cutter

Hi Guys
I will be attempting my 1st scratch built plane..The Cloud Dancer 40..Looking at the plans I see lots of "Call Out." in degrees, 25 36 etc..
Which one of the above tools from fourmost would work the best? Do I really need any of them? Don't want to buy all three.
Would like to hear from builders who has used these 3 products, or If any one has a better idea?

Thanks Dan

DBono,

I have the miter sander and like it. It's especially good for assembling stick-built tail surfaces. I can't speak for the other tools.

Since you are building what I was flying today & have been flying off and on for the past 5+ yrs. I give you my 2 cent worth ...........not that you ask! #1 use two wing servos! trust me .........flutter ........I know! #2 Do not remove all the dihedral! Trust me I know. To much roll coupling needed to knife edge. I have a 70 OS surpass in mine.......very unlimited vertical. It's a good design &your going to have fun with it. Using a 40? It still will be great

I recall reading a review on another forum where the author liked the sander a lot. Seems to me that if you get the initial x-acto cut close by hand, the sander can provide the final precision.

FWIW, National Hobbies sells the cutter and sander for $13.95 each, while Tower is asking $19.69 each (I just checked the prices...Wow, ain't the web great??))

nationalhobbysupplyinc.com

That said, I don't own either yet, but would lean towards the sander first. But at National's price, I probably should own both!! (Standard disclaimer about shipping and handling....Check for your situation.)

I have the Fourmost sander and the miter saw. Either cutter plus the sander would work to make nice tight joints on built-ups. If I lost a bet and had to lose either of them...I would keep the sander.

Here's a pic of a sander that I made from some scrap pieces of wood that I posted on another thread. Hope this works:

Default Fourmost Sander

I love the sander, I've had mine for years...easy to get accurate angles and true edges. Great for stick built planes like the Sig Kadet Sr. My 2 cents worth...
