Default Which foam?

Hi there,
Now winter is drawing in? Im looking into building my own wings as an experiment. Can any one tell me what type of foam i should be using for the wings (they will be mounted on an old glider type fuse) also out of interest what foam do you use on the stab and fin?

Default RE: Which foam?

Most of the wire cut wings I've seen use the green or gray insulation foam used in housing. Not the foam that comes laminated between foil. Some of the lighter designs use the white large grain/cell styrene foam like what is found in throw away picnic coolers. The spar structure is critical depending on the intended sheeting.

The green insulation foam is usually fiberglassed/epoxy covered and placed back into the beds with a tad of vacuum to pull everything into alignment while the epoxy cures. These types of foam wings can have a single round carbon tube spar and be plenty strong. The white styrene foam is used with a balsa sheet skin/covering and requires a bit more spar structure for strength.
