bi wing zagi
Has any one ever made a dual wing zagi, and would it fly ? I started with two wings of foam and I wanted to use a speed 400 motor, what do you think. email me = [email protected]

I don't own a Zagi but every other guy at my club does. I love those figure eights with the wingtips dragging the runway. Keeeoool.
By all means, try your idea. I would connect the two wings with structural tip plates and some type of vertical fin in the center. Coroplast would probably work. Velcro and tape seems to be the fasteners of choice for the Zagi crowd.
One cool thing you could do is add rudders on the tip plates. Then you could do stall turns. Extra Keeeoool.

little bi-plane rule....
keep the wing seperation at least equale to the wing chord. ever seen a twin rudder plane like a shrike wobble the tail end??? not good when it does the same for a set of wings

should I
Keep the top wing before or aft the bottom wing, it looks better aft and I think on landings there is less chance to flip and damage the top wing if it were forward, what do ya think with the CGs and everything to consider?

Almost all bi-planes have the top wing forward. The famous Beech stager wing is a notable exception. I would stack them directly in-line. It makes the CG question easier. However, if you do stagger them, just average the CG of each wing. Remember to start nose heavy to be conservative. I would't worry about damage. Zagis are very tough.

motor?! ummm ok..
well, if your worried about damaging the EPP nose, i think you better put the motor behind.
be easy enough to launch by holding the top wing

Looks good, now BUILD IT.
Couple more ideas:
Buy two Zagi slope combat gliders.
Add speed 600 power system.
Center and tip panels from coroplast (available from local sign shop).
Put C.G. at average between upper and lower.
Motor and battery could be mounted to center panel ala profile style.
Alternately, you can simply stack two completely stock Zagis. Be careful with the aileron linkage. The flex of a typical epp could cause the upper and lower elevon to get out-of-synch.
Good luck.

i think you need the top wing further back, as it pitches forwards the CofG changes too much on the top wing and it just flips nose in... most wing arragements i've seen like this almost have the upper wing as a tail plane to keep it all stable.

well, i had two planes in my mind, the first was the one on the last page lol, the second i'm looking at now, and is too small to scan. but its like the one on the last page, with a long nose and a pusher engine.
you need pitch stability
