Setting Washout
I was studying the plans for my next build, a 1/4 scale Birddog from Vaillancourt plans. On the wing sheet it says the wingtips from such and such rib to the tip has 1-1/2 degrees of washout. Is this already figured in to the layout and shape of the ribs, or do I have to "warp" this portion to get the washout to the required amount, and if so, what's the best way to figure this amount? I haven't built just from plans before, and there's no written instructions to guide me. Thanks for the help.

RE: Setting Washout
If the plans call for building on a wing jig, then set the root rib at zero and set the tip rib at 1 1/2 degrees trailing edge up. You can add holes in the wing ribs for wing jig building.
If the plans call for building on a flat surface with cut off tabs on the trailing edge of the ribs, then copy the root rib on a sheet of paper and draw a straight reference line to represent the table (flat surface). Do the same for the wing tip rib and verify that there is 1 1/2 degrees washout. If the plans do not show the cutoff tabs, you can add them if you want to build on a flat surface.
