You can go to the below noted web site. Plan and parts for a 48 inch wingspan version available there.

Taylo

There is a kit made by Unionville Hobbies of a 72" DHC-2 Beaver. Decent kit, wonderful wood. These kits are generally considered to be builder's kits, that is, you open the box and stare at bundles of sticks. Almost the same as building from plans, but the ribs and firewall are already cut out, you get a fibreglass cowl and all the wood. Everything else depends on your razor blade.
They build super light, and fly like trainers. Most guys slap floats on them. I built the 72" Otter, and modified it by rounding of the fuselage cross section, then planked it. I also added flaps. I also modified the windscreen. Oh yes, I also sheeted the entire wing.
The kit is from Canada, so US dollars make it even cheaper for you. Look at this site for great prices:

Have fun.

I built a Unionville Beaver, with an OS .40 Surpass. Built it with slotted flaps (not flaperons, like the original.)

It flew like a Beaver. That is to say, like a truck. The wing span is 72". I have been trying to give it away for years. Beavers are neat airplanes with a ton of history behind them. But they are the archetype of the utilitarian bush plane.

(BTW, the Unionville .40 size Tiger Moth is a blast to fly. I'm on my second one.)

You say you've been trying to give it away? What kind of condition is it in? Do you still have it, and if you do how much do you want for it?

Condition? It would need 2 to 3 hours of work to make it flyable. I used a goofy aileron linkage which would have to be rebuilt.

What it really needs is to rebuild the ailerons altogether, install servos in the wing, and program flaperon operation. The existing slotted flaps work, as I recall, very well. There is virtually no attitude change when deployed.

How much? I never even thought about it. It is only an airframe. But how would I ship the thing to you?

I will try to take a picture, but I have not had luck uploading before.

Here it is.

In looking at it, it's a little rougher than I thought. There is some minor wing damage. I built it about ten years ago.

I checked UPS. I have no idea where Shingletown is, so I used Los Angeles as a destination. The cost is $75 to $100US. It's yours if you want it, no representations or warranties! But you would have to put me in funds for the shipping and any packing materials. Probably UPS packaging would be best.

Snitch. Did ya get rid of that Beaver. If not I can just drive to Edmonton and get it (only 2.5 hrs away) depending on how much ya want for it. Let me know by either reply or PM.

tks1

Guys, please take these arrangements offline and use the PM system. This doesn't need to be done on the public forums.

Thanks
