Default Bulkhead sizes for scratch bild

Question question....

Starting the main fuse, question I have is how far back the fire wall do you continue with ply until you switch or do you keep the ply all the way? If not ply what standard would be used?

The first two bulkheads are appro 6"-7" dia. the lenght is approx 24"

do not quite understand your question? what plywood are you refering to? I normally have the firewall/bulkhead as plywood and all the rest is balsa. all sheeting is balsa. dick

Many kit planes I have seen, have ply going back far enough to at least include the wing saddles.
A lot of trainer and sport planes have lite ply all the way to the tail. For kit manufacturers this keeps the parts count down, but builds heavier.

Dick:

I am speaking of thr bulkheads within the fuse. the lite ply that is used I use up front and then change to balsa. This time I'm doing much biger and would like to know if I should keep the lite ply (1/8") the supports are at the end and will be between 1/8" ply. Yes, it's a starship. the main body is what I am speaking of. the nacells will be made of BASS for the bulkheads.

Hope that help a little.

If this is any help, a scratch I did of this plane, I used lite ply as fuselage crutches for the balsa formers and ran lite ply doublers to just after the landing gear.
