RE: Marutaka Spit
Well its been awhile since I built a Marutaka/royal spitfire, so I will tell you what I remember. The plane is quite scale so expect it to have ground handling issues. It builds quite light but will come out tail heavy so put everything that has weight as far foward as possible. If I remember correctly the plans are complete and you can build a plane from them without a kit. You will need a canopy, maybe a Top Flight Spitfire canopy would work. Use very little elevator throw 3/8" to 1/2" max. Be very careful about your CG, 25% max. Flaps sure would help, this plane does not like to slow down. Think long and hard before building that wing, I would put some washout in it. If you make a monokote warbird out of it, it will fly on a .45 and weigh under 6 pounds assuming you use light wood. A 4 stroke .70 class would fly it well and you will need the nose weight. I want to build another one of these, but the kits are running in the $175-$200 range on ebay and are no longer made. good luck, I wish I had kept the plans from the Two I built 17 years ago.
