Fledgling Plans
I am looking for plans for the Sterling Models - FLedgling. This was the plane I learned to fly with back in the late 70's. I am now taking up this sport again, and are very keen on building this model during the winter.
Any one who knows whre to find the plans?

RE: Fledgling Plans
There has been quite a bit on old Sterling models posted at:
http://home.mindspring.com/~jeff.coo...els/index.html
Would suggest you contact Jeff at this location.
I think someone is currently reproducing this model also as a laser cut short kit.

RE: Fledgling Plans
You can get a Kit and Plans form here I believe.

The Fledgling was my First plane too.. My neighbor harland "Swede" Carlson gave a wing, an OS S35 and a roll of plans..
We stratch built the fusealage from the plans and re covered the wing.
I'd recomend renforcing the front and rear wing mounting block.. The front block came off one day during a landing due to fuel soaking..
The rear came out about a year later at the bottom of a loop.. It didn't get far after that.
The Original front block was just a hardwood block across the top (maybe we mis-read the plans)
The 2nd version we made was plywood and entended down into the fuse for increased bonding area.
It's was great with the OS .35 and a 9x6 prop or an OS .40 4 stroke with a 10x6
My Fledgling in 1985 with the OS .35
