Just an idea
Hey just have some ideas for a 60 size profile plane. How thick should the fuse be? I was thinking of useing foam for the center and sheet it with balsa and ply. And how about a flat wing, no airfoil, how would that work? I would just like it to be light, simple and fun. This would be more of a test bed then anything else. Thanks for the help. Merry Christmas. Foam is poor for structural integrity.
On a larger plane fashioned after a 3D foamie, more conventional structure would be better.
On the wing, real leading edge, a goodly spar, and trailing edge for the surface hinges, with foam only for the shape.

foam fuse, sheeted with balsa with a ply doubler up front. 85" w.s. and 85" length. ZDZ 120 for power.
here's a link to OMP. alot of their planes use this construction.

RE: Just an idea
Thanks again, I started laying out the fuse on paper tonight. I'm thinking one inch wide foam and 1/16 inch doublers with 1/16 inch balsa. I will probably experiment with foam ribs with d tube construction for the wing. It might be cheeper to buy an arf then to scrach bulid but I enjoy the challenge of designing my own planes, and the thrill of flying my own stuff.

Yeah I'm the only one at my feild that even scratch builds from plans. Most guys dont even build kits. Mr.Bigg, we will have to get together some time and do some flyin. I see your only two and a half hours away.
