Default Anyone have any experience with HOSTETLER PLANS?

Does anyone have any experience with HOSTETLER PLANS? My club had some brochures for Hostetler plans and I was curious if anyone had any experience with building one or know of anyone that may have built one and how well the plans are, and etc... They seem to be real nice looking planes in the brochure.

Wendell has been a modeler and designer for umpteen years. If he has a design you want to build, don't hesitate.

I have a set of his Cessna 421 plans. While I haven't started to build the plans are very well done. Wendell has a real talent for drawing and these plans are the best in my collection; he is a nice guy too!

Ditto with the Turner Special plans. He also provides links and info to suppliers of fiberglass parts to finish thing up.

Last year, I built the 30% Super Decathlon from Whendell. This was my first Plans built airplane and I had no problem. Just take your time and look over them a few times and you will find that you will be answering your own questions that you had the day before. Here's a small snippet of it in flight. http://media.putfile.com/s-SD-2

Thanks for everyones input. WOW, beautiful plane there Flying Hog, thanks for the pix and video, great flying plane. What size engine do you have in your plane? His plans aren't all that expensive, I think I may just go ahead and buy me one and see what I can do with it. It would be my first scratch build. Are there any tips, suggestions, things I should know, or things I should look out for on my first scratch build? Thanks again...

I have a Zenoah G-62 swinging a 22-10 prop. won't 3D, but that's not what I built her for. It flies very nice with power to spare. The Plans are well done, just like I said, Look them over a couple of times , and you will be fine. Let us know what you decide to build. Happy building!!!

I had a chance to meet Wendell a couple of years ago. By sheer concidence, my sister-in-law moved a few blocks from him in Orville, OH and when we made our first visit to their new digs, one thing led to another and I went to visit him and see his shop. Really nice guy, very cool designs and great craftsmanship on the models he had in his shop. Though I've never built one of his models, if I ever get the itch to do a scale bird, I will be looking up one of his designs.

I have always used his plans and then enlarged them.
The planes are all of blue foam I NEVER had ANY part not fit or look bad. I hope he lives forever.
My best wishes to him. Thanks for all the pleasures. Rich
