Z-poxy used to lay up glass - 2nd layer OF ZPOXY IS SANDED - NOW WHAT?
OK. The glass is down, the 2nd layer of "zpoxy" is applied & sanded. It seems there was a LOT of "BLUSH" -- (very glossy) Too much resin? I blotted out what seemed to be as much as would come out.
I sanded all of the glossy away, so how many applications of this hould I apply?
I started out with an 80 grit and graduated to 360. It sure seems really smooth now but when I tried to do the 400 grit with a wet/dry it got all messed up.
What is the most effective manner to do "wet" sanding for my final?

A drop of dish soap in about a liter of water will help the wet sanding go easier. Also be patient. Epoxy doesn't really set hard to where you can properly sand it for at least a few days and more like a week for the find stuff.

I too am glassing an engine cowl. I made the cowl from balsa and foam, sanded and filled in the seams, and covered with two layers of .7oz. cloth with Z-Poxy. I agree, wait a few days ( I work every weekend and let resin cure over the work week,) I applied the first layer of cloth with 50:50 resin alcohol mix, very thin. Used old paying cards to squeegee out the resin. After curing, I sanded lightly with 80 and 150 grit. Second layer of cloth same deal, then sanded to with 150, 220 and finally 320 grit. To finish I use white and gray spray pimer. I like the stuff from Lustercoat. Light coats to find pin holes and dry spots. sand off most if not all of the primer and then use spot filler to fix the pin holes. follow up with second color of primer. I like to do this so I can see when i have sanded through the last layer of primer. It helps prevent sanding into the cloth. I don't wet sand the resin and cloth, only the last few coats of primer with 320 grit. Then I spray with lustercoat paint and clear coat after decals are applied.
Hope this helps

It would be a very sticky mess if he did...
Epoxy does not harden unless the two parts are mixed in the correct proportions. And unlike the catalyst used in Polyester resin trying to alter the resin to hardener proportions for epoxy only has bad outcomes. Epoxy MUST be mixed as close as possible to the proper recipe.

marwen,
Here is the method I learned from Greg Hahn. It has worked very very well for me and from the quality of his models works very well for him. When using the ZAP finishing resin thin it 100% with denatured alcohol. After the first coat has dried apply the second then sand with 240 grit. Then apply a very light third coat. Sand the final with 240 and then smooth with 400. He does NOT wet sand. You will definitely use more sandpaper but wet sanding will actually cause the woodgrain to show through even though you have the epoxy resin applied. At first I thought he was crazy but turns out he was right. If anyone has any questions about this PM me and I will gladly help out anyway I can.

here's the beginning of my engine cowl finishing. Let me know if you'd like to see more pix as things have progressed.

Pretty funny, of course I was saying 50% part A 50% part B and then thin the batch with 50% denatured alcohol. For one ounce of mix would be 1/4 oz A 1/4oz B and 1/2 oz alcohol... If I could figure out how to post some pix I could show you how my cowling can out.
