Dennis, I thought I sent you the measurement and asking price. Maybe it didn't go thru? Anyway, it is 10.75 inches in diameter, $100. Lot less than I payed for it, and it is a very nice cowl.

Sorry for the delay, the rib templates are in your e-mail. Hopefully you haven't cut your ribs yet.

The Barth cowl and pants are very nice but pricey, $100 is a good deal.

Another question. The minwax polycrylic are you guys using the gloss or satin finish,? not that I am anywhere close to using it yet, still working on the bottom wing. Dave

Dave,
I have used both and it really does not matter which one. I generally buy the satin as I am sanding it anyways after drying.

I have found that by thinning with 15-20% water it applies much smoother. I used this method when I rebuilt my 33% WACO and it worked very well. I applied 5 coats sanding after the 2nd coat and each coat after. Make sure you sand lightly and be very careful not to sand into the fabric especially at the edges where open bays meet the wood structure. These edges are easy to sand into.

Gordon, If you are building a Pepino Waco be sure to check the side view, my plans were skewed 1/4" right in the middle of the top rail, top view was also way off(as others have noted). dave

OK..will do. I do not yet have the plans, but had read a number of the comments made about the symmetry and lack or mirror images for wing panels...I like the size of it though....

Gordon, I like the size also, Just be sure to check symmetry on everything, it's a challenge but is a real nice bird when done, mine is a long way from completion. I just started on the fuselage. Dave

Not sure, do a google search. I think Mrs Pepino sold the rights to someone else and they are now selling the plans. She was selling them when I bought mine.

Not trying to discourage you but just offer a bit of advice. If I was to build another 25% Waco I would just purchase the Barth kit. Building from the plans will not save you any $$$ but the kit will save you a lot of time.
Just my .02 worth.

A couple of questions, what is everybody doing for a dummy engine for this model, I can't seem to find a 1/4 scale engine small enough to fit in the cowl and they are all 9 cylinders the Waco was 7 cylinder, ,and what kind of control surface throws are everybody starting with? Dave

I can tell you the Jim Pepino plans have a 90" wingspan, I am building one that is about 2/3 complete. Maybe if you post some pictures one of the guys can identify yours. Dave

You have a plans built Pepino WACO, it appears to have been built stock to the Pepino plans as drawn.

How did the rib templates work for you? I see by your top center section that it has the correct shape. You pretty much have all the hard work finished on your plane. It is looking good.

BTW:
I had ordered a plastic vacuum formed engine for my Pepino WACO. Not long after I ordered mine the company went out of business. I do remember there was not much available for this plane.
