Sr. Kadet float plane with 35cc gasser
I have a 20 year old Sr. Kadet float plane, 8 foot plus wing spand +1300 sq.in, that seems in pretty good shape.
At our open house today I saw a Cub almost exactly the same size with a 35cc gas engine.
My question is this, what kind of reinforcing will it take to convert my Kadet into a gasser?
I have the same engine that was in the cub setting on the shelf and would love to loose the glow fuel.

Other than a total rebuild...
That's about twice the power a Kadet could handle.

RE: Sr. Kadet float plane with 35cc gasser
I was thinking about boxing in the fuse with plywood from the firewall to just behind the wing and adding bulkheads.
I have no experience building aircraft for gas engines and was wondering what structure was involved.
Would plywood laid over the existing frame be enough?
Do I need to lay the plywood inside the stick frame and add bulkheads?
If so how many?
What thickness of plywood?
How about the firewall.
I wish I’d had a chance to look at the Cub a little more in depth
Thanks in advance

The amount of work needed to make a Kadet handle that large a motor.. the largest motor I've seen in a Kadet is a 1.2 wouldn't be worth the effort to modify an existing airframe.
Both the fuselage and wing would need major restructuring.
And to be practical the plane should be enlarged.
I'd get a Cub.
