RV-6 from gif to dwg/dxf??
Hi there,
As the title suggests there is a RV-6 plan around on the web but it is in gif format. I was wondering if anyone had a dxf or dwg version of it. I really like this plane but I'm not very familiar nor confident with passing the whole gif plan to dwg . I would appreciate any help or if you know who could do that accurately, Thanksss! Petro

Get Wintopo: http://wintopo.com/softsoft/wintopo
It's FREE and vectorizes (converts and saves as dxf) raster files such as gifs, jpgs, and bmps.

RE: RV-6 from gif to dwg/dxf??
Thanks for the tip but I already have one of these programs that vectorizes raster files. The problem is that they are not precisely accurate when passing all the lines and curves. It might be good if the lines are very clear and not blurred but for most of the raster files it's not very satisfying . Thanks anyway, any other suggestions anyone? Thanks in advance.

Scan2CAD, $280 US?
Precise raster to vector conversion is a
dicey thing to accomplish. There are
a few BIG $$ programs around. Sometimes
it's just best to draw it from scratch.

There's no free lunch as you're finding out. The raster to vector deal will always be a mess if the raster image has chunky lines. I know it's not what you want to hear but either have the gif file printed to size by one of the large format print outfits or find someone or yourself and import the image into CAD and then trace over the image with regular CAD lines and curves and then tidy it up.

The GIF format seems to be popular with large format plans from Europe. They can be directly printed off some raster based plotter. Don't bother changing formats, if all you want is one big print.
The big plot is much the same as you obtaining a blueprint downtown.
I have used my plotter on them, and the linework generally is OK. But then too they only show off good in B&W formats. The GIF formats do not scale up or down very well, but better than a Jpg type. So don't go too far.
