I am building a Liquid Cooled type cowl for my Bi-plane and wonder what is good to use as a scale looking radiator.?

You can buy aluminum wire mesh. You can have 2 or 3 or more layers to provide the illusion of your radiator core.
I forgot to mention that you can buy the stuff at craft stores.

Have a look at old soundcard speaker grills. Else, the splatter guard that is used in a kitchen to prevent cooking oil from splattering out of the saucepan would also fit the bill.

Thanks, I think I will try the wire mesh.

For a simple screen you can solder music wire in criss cross pattern. For a radiator look try slicing corrugated cardboard to the depth you want, stack and glue together, paint black and fuel proof. Looks great.
hope this helps.

Don't make it too "solid" or it'll greatly restrict the airflow to the engine cylinder. One layer of flyscreen like mesh is all you should use and even then it can offer problems in some cases.
