I'm a little confused by your term "resize" do you want to plot the drawing larger? Or rescale the drawing within AutoCad?

If you just want to plot it out larger, when you type “plot” you get a dialog window. There’s a section called “Plot scale”. You simple rescale the drawing using the settings in that block.

If you want to change the true scale of the drawing, simply type the word “SCALE” then <ENTER>. Select the entire drawing and then enter a scale factor (i.e. 1.5 for 1 ½ times larger – or .5 to scale it down by ½).

Now don't forget that Cad is Different. No matter the scale ratio which comes off the plotter, the line width will remain the same, as per color. Thus depending upon which way you go on the resizing, the lines may come out too thick or too thin.

Autocad will scale the line width if you use a polyline instead of using the linewidth based on layer or color. The line width will becaom part of the drawing itself and will scale.

By resize, I think you mean to scale a drawing of one size to a desired size. For example 48" wingspan to 80". I do this very often when I import a raster image to trace over, and I want to scale it to a desired size.

First, I strongly recomend that you use the command line. Even if you use icons, keep your eye on the command line.

Take the drawing that you want to scale, and draw an ortho line from one wingtip in the direction of the other tip. Make this line the length of the desired wingspan.

Type sc (shortcut for scale) at the command line.

Command: sc
SCALE
Select objects: 1 found {select the stuff you want to scale}
Select objects: {hit enter}
Specify base point: {pick the first end of the line you just made}
Specify scale factor or [Reference]: r {typing ''r' puts you into reference mode}
Specify reference length <1>: Specify second point:
Specify new length: end
of {Select the other endpoint of the line and enter}
Command: {you're done}
