Default Curved or circular text

It's probably a beginners question, but that's what I am.

I want to put text around the edge of a circle.

How do I do it?

The easiest way is with programs such as Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrater. They make it easy to
Make text follow any path you could wish for.

...or you can do it the hard way. The logo you see in my avatar was done in an early version of TurboCAD. I had to "explode" the text until each letter was editable. I then arranged the letters around the circle and rotated and spaced them until it "looked right." Crude? Yes, but it worked for me.

DesignCad makes this easy. You type the text in a window and then array it around a designated radius. It took me longer to attach this file than do the text in Designcad.

Fred, give me specs on the font, circle size, how you plan on using this, print, cut from vinyl etc. If you have a computer drawing program, what is it. I will lay it out and send it to you if the file is not to large to attach to e-mail.

If you are using Autocad this is one of the standard routines since version R-14 of 1997. In earlier versions like from 1986 through 1990, you had to enact a LISP file to get such. I use ArcText. You do know how to load Lisp?

Hello Wm.

Sorry to be long in responding, I've been busy with other things.

I have AutoCAD 2005 and would appreciate instruction on hoe to proceed to get curved/circular text.

Thanks,

Fred

I use a LISP program titled ArcText and got it for free at CADALOG some time ago. Seems to be touchy as to which end of arc it picked.

There is a pull down sub-menu that can be used in version 2+ of Acad. Problem here is that whoever loaded up Acad on to you computer when new, had to include the Bonus pack. Not just the standard package. Go to your Help file, an it will detail how to. Only thing before doing such, is that you must be in correct layer, and have intended STYLE defined. If the same as others, go, go go.

That would be the Express Tools. Only around an arc but you can make the arc into an almost circle with the text bending to match.

Thanks Gentlemen:

I'll look into this further, especially regarding the Bonus situation.

In the meantime, thanks for the responses.

Fred
