Autocad Scaling Question
If I'm scaling up a 1/12 scale plane by 2 to 1/6 scale, and the original rib is 1/8" balsa, are the new ribs 1/4" balsa? As well as the formers, firewall, etc?
It's a linear up-scaling, so it's logical to double material thickness when building, right?
Thanks!

Nope!
Material thickness is dictated by the requirements for the part.
An 1/8" rib is probably OK for the larger sized plane. (and 1/8" is really thick anyway for a rib!)
Spars and longerons don't scale up with the scale factor either.
Doubling a 1/4" sq. spar to 1/2" sq. increases the mass of the spar by a factor of .25/.063, or 4 times, for the same length, or 8 times for the 2x scaled length.
Depending on the use, materials can stay the same, or go up in size relatively slowly..
Remember... Double the size, 8 times the weight!
