I'm wonder if you could find plans, sketches, or whatever, for the spruce goose. Yes, i am making a rc spruce goose. it would be a big help, because i have been looking around, and haven't had any luck.

There's a great Spruce Goose in the Sept '05 Flying Models mag. by Laddie Mikulasko. Go here and look at the back issues.http://www.flying-models.com/

Well, the 'Goose resides in McMinnville Oregon, in a museum. Completely restored, you can even go inside it now and get pics. I know they have a web site, and maybe you could contact them for pictures. Maybe you have a friend who lives near there? Sure is fricking BIG. I can't believe it even got off the water, much less float.

I was wondering the same thing, because I just went and seen it last Sunday. The rudder is as big as a B-17s wing. The flaps are bigger than most airplanes wings. It is something you just have to see to experience it. On another note, there are two models of it there as well that they used in the movie. One of them is a 12 foot wingspan running electric motors. If you are still interested, I can contact the museum for you. The problem with taking pictures of it is it doesn't fit in any camera I have Andy PM me if I can help. I live about 20 minutes from her.

Guys, Laddy M/s short kit is ok, but has a drawback: lazer cut prts, but the curves in the plane were not taken into account, so lots of parts don't fit at all. I am a docent at the musem where the Spruce Goose lives, and some of us are building two: one for a static show, and one to fly. I have other projects, but about 5-6 other guys are hard at work on these models. When they are done, I know they will fly.
Remember, the plane is all glued together, hardly any bolts, screws, etc.
It is something else again.
lots of luck on your project.

Wendell: I don't know if a 3d scan would help or not. These are very accomplished model builders, and so they are doing ok with the planes. ONe is about finished (I was at the museum yesterday where they are working on the planes) and they hope to have it done within a couple of months. They work only 1 day a week, so it takes a little longer.
Thanks for the tip, I shall let the guys know of it. Roger Q.
