Newbie First Scratch Build
Here is some pictures of my first build and it is from scratch. I didn't take any pictures before this in fear that it would become fire starter.
My Question is what colors stick out well? This is a 44" wingspan plane. I was considering Maroon/Cranberry as one color and not sure what would be a good offset color. I want it to stick out very well in the sky.
Any thoughts, ideas greatly appreciated.

I second the red/yellow combination. I've found that when the sky is overcast or has a solid layer of high clouds and the sun isn't very bright, white wings blend into the clouds very well, but the yellow still stands out.

RE: Newbie First Scratch Build
Would you do the whole top looking down in yellow and the whole bottom looking up a red?
I was thinking possibly doing the top and bottom of the fuse and the bottom of the wing in a red and the top of the wing and the sides of the fuse in yellow. Then if all goes well possibly a red stripe and blue for windows on the canopy. Also possibly the rudder, elevator and ailerons in the same red top and bottom.
Thanks for any input.

Here it is Covered. Thanks for the yellow and red Ideas. I couldn't find a maroon at the LHS so I settled for deep red. The high was below zero all weekend so I had the time to cover and didn't want to wait for an order.
I was fairly happy with the look but will probably add a stripe or two to break up all the yellow. As this was my first cover job hopefully it holds up.
See ya,

Randy Randolph design. You can spot 'em a mile away.
Congrats on navigating the Scratch Build Jungle with what appears to be a big degree of success. She looks great.
And I second the kudos for what looks like a great covering job. I can't see any crowsfeet either...

Delbert,
Your covering job looks great! I, too, like to use yellows (safety yellow, flourescent yellow), especially on the leading edge of the wing. It is very visible in all lighting conditions, especially on approach with dark backgrounds such as trees or clouds. Here are a few pics of my first ever build and covering job. It is a Somethin Extra. Of all the planes that I have right now, this covering/coloring scheme is my favorite.
