Default Plans vs. cutting parts....

This is a unique question.... but just curious on how others do it. As a scratch builder we have all ran across plans that have "thicker" lines that outlines the parts (ribs, formers, etc..) that need to be cut out. On plans that have these thicker outlines (or patterns) what do you guys cut and shape the parts too? (can also apply to kits with printed on outlines on wood parts) The outter edge of the line... the middle of the line or the inside of the line?

When I do woodworking I use the rule of leave the line, or othewords oustide of the line is where I cut. I do the same for building airplanes, i cut to the outside of the line so the shape is always right.

I do the same and then test fit and remove more if required. as long as all are sanded to the same outline there should not be a problem but it is easier to remove more material than to add to it.

I'm lucky if I cut on the lines I'm suposed to and don't end up with "red dye" on the wood - Ha ha. Serioulsy- I have to not worry about small mistakes and not be a perfectionist to get anything done.
