Default Blowing up Plans

I have a couple of sets of plans for smaller electric planes that I would like to increase in size for glow power.

One of the plans is a 1/17 scale of a Fairy Barracuda (37.5" Wing Span). I would like to blow this up to fit a .60 engine - I am guessing about 1/6 scale and then build it. Is this possible to do?

I have never built from plans, but have built about 7 models to date the last being a 1/4 scale Chipmunk. I think the biggest problem will be the Cowl, but I think I can work my way around that once I figure if this at all possible.

Any help would be apperciated.

hello ... if you want to avoid distortion, you can scan the plan, then import to autocad, and the scale it on autocad. you need to take care about the materials, the little planes are disigned to suport not too much stress, you need to recalculete some pieces or parts.

The plans I have are paper, not electronic. I was thinking of taking them to Kinkos. I understand that I will have to do some reinforcements for the greater stress

I think you'll find that if it's more lightly built in the original size that you'll pretty much have to totally re-engineer the structure. At the very least you'll want to double up on the wing ribs. And the fuselage will need attention since the spacing of the formers will be quite large so the sides and other skins won't have much support. There's most likely some other issues as well.
