Default Big Diameter Sanding Disks

Big Diameter Sanding Disks

A couple years ago, my neighbor gave me his father's pedistal type angle sander. It is mainly a spinning disk, connected via Vee belt to an electric motor, with a hinged platform hanging off to one side, and a vernier to tell the angle. This is a really neat thing for it allows me to put a bevel on to the edges of parts before gluing in to place. The face to the disk was warped, due to sitting out in barn, so it got replaced at beginning of summer. He gave me a box with one only new disk, and it too has now felt a bit of morning dew, and has warped.

I have since then gone to a few of the usual haunts, lumber yards, home repair centers, auto-body supply houses, eBay, etc. But nothing as big. Most have the common six inch diameter variety, and a few had eight inch, but in very coarse grit. Even went to place noted on box of (One) disk I got, but that is now a concrete plant.

What I need is suggestion as to where to find 12 inch diameter, self adheasive disks. Need the peal and stick variety in grits of 180 to 360. Tried the square type which is easily available, but they do not cover entire disk area, and need some sort of Stick-um to be applied first.

Where?

Steve....

The only disks the five local welding places have are quite rough. Many have 2x grit, which is used for reducing slag or cleaning up bare rusty steel in order to begin welding.

One pass would tear up the wood beyond what is needed.

Hydro....

Took a look. That which is cited is pretty rough stuff. Used for massive surface reduction. Thus I need something finer like 180 to 360 grit.

Close......

If you can't find anything local, I'm sure [link=http://www.carbatec.com.au/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=250_1160_1210]these[/link] guys would send you what you want. This is what I use.
