With such short moments? I'tll turn around broomsticks!
Sure it'll fly - but it looks like a white-knuckler...You'll probably have to turn your dual rates down unless you're used to this kind of thing.

Looks like it'll be fun....

be real carful with elevator input.short tail moment may be helped by oversize stab but pitch will still be sensitive.may want to use small pitch prop for slower speeds on test flite.say 11 x 4

Keep the CG well forward, say 25%. It'll allow you to have a second flight.

What you've really got there is a "long" flying wing. The tail moments being too short to be considered a normal layout by any stretch. In keeping with the flying wing analogy I second the 25% balance point suggestion. And for your sake I hope that airfoil is symetrical or there's gonna be trouble. If it is semi symetrical then I suggest you reflex the ailerons upward by 5 degrees to help simulate a flying wing airfoil. If it's stable during the first couple of flights then you can drop them back to level. If it IS symetrical then the elevator trim will provide all the reflex for stability you need. Just make sure there's a little up trim for the first flight. About 2 degrees should do it.

It looks a LOT like my old control line models....

Bruce:

The short moment was my second thought. And my first thought went back to control line also.

Did you ever have a Flight Streak, or any Sterling profile that did not have the fuselage break loose at the leading edge of the wing?

That was my thought. Wing separation.

Next was it probably wont last long enough for vibration to break the wing free.

It really looks like a one-flight wonder. If not, he's still going to raise his heart rate and clear his sinuses.

Will, my first couple of profiles did work loose at the leading edge but then I learned of the wonders of slow cure epoxy and a small ribbon of fiberglass cloth to reinforce that area.

Joe, you may want to do the same for the first couple of inches of the leading edge. One inch fiberglass tape squished into the corner between the wing and the fuselage.

Default Seconds and Thirds

I second the relex on the ailerons. It's saved my latest design from SLDS (Sudden Lawn Dart Syndrome).

It looks like your fin area is small. I hope the profile fuse helps keep the no-finger-zone end of the plane going in the right direction. If not, your flying club is going to look like a beer fest at 6am
