Default Scaling Up Plans

Does anybody know of any service for scaling-up a set of plans? I've got a set of 1/4 Rutan Quickie plans that I'd like to scale to about 1/3 or 1/2 scale.

Most of the blueprint shops in your area ought to be able to do a photographic type scale up of yur plan(s). This is pretty simple.

Doing the re-engineering and calculations are yet another topic of discusion.

Which 1/4 scale plans do you have?

I have both RCM and Model Airplane News plans of the Quickie as well as genuine original plans for the full scale Q1.

If you are going for actual scale, make sure you have the Model Airplane News version, if you want a sport model, go with the RCM.

The RCM plan has longer wings with a different cord depth and thickness which is designed more for sport than for scale accuracy.

I go to Kinkos, they have a scanner and plotter that can take any size drawing up to 36" wide and scale it up 400%. The ony restriction on the enlarged version is the larger version will only be 36" wide. that means you may have to do the drawing in strips.

I use this process to enlarge 3-views for building models from scratch

Ask for help when to get to the Kinkos the setup on the machine is not easy
