Laser Cutting
Hello,
I have access to a 120 watt Epilog Laser Engraver/cutter, I was wondering if anyone out there has used one to cut balsa and light plywood.
We have the raised grid and air assist features so cutting will be a snap, the question I need answered is:
What power and speed settings will work best for balsa and light ply.
Thanks
Weskel

RE: Laser Cutting
Ours is air assist and can auto focus or manual focus.
I have used it to etch tools and equipment but never tried to cut balsa.
I always use the manual focus, seams to work better.
Any info would help.
I will see if I can get a picture of the unit next week, it is pretty good size.

RE: Laser Cutting
I cut kits with my Epilog Mini 24 45 watt.
1/8" Lite Plywood: 150 dpi for text, 100% speed, 30% power for raster(Marking), 40% speed, 100% power for vector. (Cutting)
1/8" Balsa: 150 dpi for text, 100% speed, 30% power for raster(Marking), 100% speed, 100% power for vector. (Cutting)
1/4" Balsa: 150 dpi for text, 100% speed, 30% power for raster(Marking), 60% speed, 100% power for vector. (Cutting)
I cut on the honeycomb grid and do use the air assist when cutting.
Those settings work good for me. With yours being 120 watt, adjust as needed! \
