My Latest Scratch Build
Hello Fellas; Just thought I would post some pictures of my latest project. It is a J-3 Cub 52" Span, 28 ounces, E-Flight geared 480 brushed motor, GWS 10 X 8 Prop, 30 amp ESC. 2100 3S1P Lipo. Plan to test fly this coming weekend, have to wait on a Y harness for the ailerons. Radio is a E Fly 100 6 channel. I took me about 1 month to build & Cover, I'm allergic to CA, so I have to use yellow glue, which I think is stronger anyway. The Vacuum forming of the cowling didn't go quite right, a little warped. Graphics are by a local sign shop, except the Alligators, water slide decal paper. Let me here your feedback.

Looks like a winner, I love the graphics! You might add a few faux bite marks. I probably wouldn't have noticed the cowling if you hadn't said something. I have the same problem with regular CA but I have been able to tollerate the Foam safe CA (different solvent base).

RE: My Latest Scratch Build
52" and 28oz says it all to me. Now THIS is how a real model needs to be built.... or perhaps you're just tickling my free flight funny bone.
With the specs you posted I foresee many happy airborne hours.
I'll also suggest that with a 480 Eflite motor and at that weight you've got a J3 with a power to weight more like that of an F15..... I flew a 32 oz aerobatic model with the 480 running the NiMH equivalent of just a 2S lipo pack and it was a hot but not quite vertical performer. The 3S pack was only a small modification away from being installed when a flying buddy pulled up through the wing tip and one of the tail booms and I haven't gotten around to repairing it yet. But with a 3S pack I fully expected unlimited vertical.
