Please Help Me Sort Out Some Things About Homemade CNC Wood Cutter
Hi, I am interested in building a pipe dream cnc wood cutter but.... I do not want to spend allot of money! I have some questions and would really appreciate it if you would help me answer them. By the way I have access and know how to use AutoCAD. I just want to start with a simple 3 axis machine. From all the digging I have done I know I want to build the pipe dream for its simplicity and low cost. The main thing I am concerned about is the electronics. I can get the 12v power supplies and have access to AutoCAD or .dxf files so what do I need to connect the motors to, to make them run and cut the dxf. file?
General Questions:
Since I only want a 2 axis machine I would only need 3 stepper motors, right?
What kind of motors do I need? Remember CHEAP!
What do I need to connect the motors to, to make them run and cut the dxf. file? Like board, interface cable, ect...
I read about the Piker4X , is this all i need tocontrol the motors?
Where do I get the motors?
I know these are lengthy questions but I really need so help understanding how it all works. I know could build the actual machine Pipe Dream but need help understanding how the computer gets the info to the mtors.
All I would be cutting is model airplane parts. Balsa and Light ply.
Thanks for anyones help!,
Jason

I think you should go here and read the whole thread. It will take awhile but should answer many of your questions. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...threadid=62920
