Default Any experience with photogrammetry software?

I am somewhat into cad and scratch building, and now and then I find an interesting project that is left behind because the lack of cross sections, or good scale drawings.
Now i have installed a copy of Photomodeler [link]http://www.photomodeler.com/index.htm[/link]
Has anyone tried this or similar software for practical modeling purposes?
One can maybe get acceptable results by using plenty photos from unknown sources, but the best would of course be to use your own calibrated camera, and take photos of the full size your self.
