limbo killer scratch built and edge/miss amelia to miss edge conversion
ok plane builder reconed i should post this build. a few days ago i decided i wanted sumat that would be fun to fly like the limbo so i started cuting balsa and gluing with out even thinking oh hang on should i build a plan, and i thought stuff the plan one less thing to clutter my desk so here it is il post some old pics then new ones later on when i take some
note
as per usual i have drifted on in this project to having mention 2 planes. 1 being the limbo killer the other being the miss amelia that i have converted by fitting edge 540 profile wings to it and tail rather than scrap the fuselage so now its called the miss edge. so this thread is now about 2 planes not one sorry folkes

Here ya go, I have more to add to this pile, but it's some of it, and I put a pick to prove the quickie is getting finished, missing from the pic is the .15 engine, some covering , few servos that need new ends put on them(my brother clipped them off for a project and of course, hardware. there is 2 brushless motors w/ esc's, servos, horns, wheels, gear, wheel pants, fuel tanks, spinners, ect, ect. Also the rds8000 to go as well.

Well, if I can figure out where all those MC35's went, you'll have about 16 total servos to use, have to make sure all of them have horns and spares too, 1/16", 18" 3/16" 14" lite ply is in there with spruce and basswood, hard to tell the difference almost, bass has almost no grain, the spruce has a light grain showing, balsa sq stock is in there too. So far it's no heavier than a TF .60 kit and that's about it.

Whoa, it looks like a squrel got ahold of that thing, or it was made in a swiss cheese factory. I've seen lightening holes before, but those don't really constitute as lightening anything, I need to send off the box of stuff so you can get more than just fuselages built and sitting there waiting for componets.

he had the switch mounted in 3 diferent locations, im trying to figure if it was to stop him adding another 10g weight to the tail. i just laffed at the bloke i bought it off when he said it was bad to balance no wonder there was that much plywood in the nose i could have made a wardrobe and drawers from it

That's the way dave from the flying field fixes his planes, find a piece of ply or spruce you don't have to cut and fit, and mix up about 3-4 ozs of epoxy and pour it into the area to be repaired, and drop the piece of wood in the resin pot you made. It's a good thing he flies large gassers, otherwise none of his repaired planes would get off the ground using glow engines! Here's the pepsi can, it's a little closer I guess, and "The Rack of dispair", told you I have a few projects to fix or refinish!

RE: limbo killer scratch built with no plan
The funny thing is now that I have all the correct patterns, from fixing the errors on the plans, I can whip one out in traditional covering in no time at all, at first it's a little tough finding out the building sequence, but now I know just how to assemble everything in the right order, so maybe 2 weeks I can have one done. This has taken me way longer due to problems and going the glass and dope method, but it does look good, and it's still fairly light, it weighs less than my FW190 by HOB. The jung is to be finished next, then the P-47, after that, I still have to assemble the rest of the christen eagle (1/3 scale), and finish fixing toms P-51. And at some point, I need to order that kit from kit cutters.

Well, if I get the plans copied, I'll send the tin templates along with it, just trace around the edge and cut it out, or I could just send a cut kit in a box, I wonder if a sheeted foam wing would be easier, probibaly not, the ribs are fairly easy to make, you only need to make 1 rib and trim each down for the taper of the wing, the plans show you how to do it and keep the airfoil the same as the chord shrinks.

RE: limbo killer scratch built with no plan
haha im more of a spit fan myself but i do like the mustang, starnge how they both where designed around racers, iv just sheeted both sides of the fus now it needs to be trimmed and straightend where the old wing was. add a thin pice of ply in the old wing bay and then sheet the underneath and make a hatch to access the radi. then clean down the rear of the fus and clean up the firewall and cover her then start sheeting and strengthening the wings up

RE: limbo killer scratch built with no plan
right changed the plan slightly, im sheeting the whole of the rear of the fus in 1/16th so i can cover all the years of neglect up as it will show through the covering, but i will cut out all areas i can so it only covers the strip wood up pluss it will help the covering adheir to it. so far its looking like a new plane, will post picturs up in about 30 mins when iv finished some more of the sheeting cant wait to take it to the field and people will be asking where did you buy that or what kit is it.
