CNC Router
I have been building a CNC Router of my own design. I have gotten most of the ideas from alot of different places on the internet. It is almost done. I hope to be able to cut balsa and foam parts for my scratch built planes.
If I have to give credit to where I have recieved the most help I would say that The CNC Zone and the guys there are the best. There is a good mix of CNC professionals, machinists and hobbiests.

Another good place is John Kleinbauer's site.

I want to cut out and build a couple of balsa planes and also foam/composite slopers.

CNC Router
My buddy has a plotter he's not using, and we're talking about replacing the stylus with an air grinder (100,000 rpm) turning a 1/16" burr. Using an adjustable collar, we can take repeated shallow cuts.

Hi guys,
I'm also planning on something similar with a friend.
1_How much time did it take you to build?
2_How much money?
3_Where did you get the motors/other stuff difficutl to purchase?
4_You bought or made the controller? If so, how?
5_Anything was particularly difficult?

I'm nearing the end of a CNC foam cutter build...
Just gotta get a power supply and start testing.
I plan on making some form of CNC Router too...

CNC Router
A friend of mines has one of this and guess what...
He doesn't use it !!
Next weekend I'll go to his house with some ideas on my head and some plans on a folder... After watching his foam cnc v1.0 (quite crappy) performing such great things despite the lack of er... experience, it MUST BE great to have cnc router!
You'll no longer have to cut the woods, you'll get perfectly cut "wood kits". Easier repairs. Possibility of sselling your own kits. Great! Have fun with your CNC machines, I hope I can also do it some day ...

CNC Router
JCaste, go to http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...threadid=62920 and read through all the posts. Yes, it's a VERY long thread but you'll see a couple of guys go from nothing to a finished CNC router cutting parts.
Also CNC Zone is very good: http://www.cnczone.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=48
Good luck....just do it!
