Default DIY Retracts?

Has anyone made their own retracts? If so, are any plans available?

Default DIY Retracts?

If you don´t mind I would like to get a copy too. I´m in the process of building my own retracts based on Robarts design, but I could always use more ideas...

Thanks

Default Please Sir meeeee toooo

Hey foamcutter,

While your at it, i wouldn't mind a copy also.
I just finished building a set of seafury retracts and i am always interested in new novel methods.

I could also supply a copy of the mechanism if people want.
Drop me an email and give me a few days as I need to scan the hard copy of the cad drawing I have.
They are quite simple, but like everything, it takes a while to complete the machining.

I believe I have overcome most of the problems that I found.
Actually, what i will do is make up an article and post it on my web site. I'll then post the link for people to peruse. There seems to be a lot of interest in this subject.

Default DIY retracts

I have had a go at scratch building a prototype set of retracts based on a 3D CAD drawing posted by Pelle Gris a few months back. I don't have very sophisticated metalworking tools or machinery (no milling machine!) so they're a bit "rough and ready". Still, if anyone is interested I could post a photo of the first prototype.

I would also be interested in the article mentioned by mikejhs82 if it is still available?

Cheers,

Default DIY Retracts?

Hey cookm...

I would very much like to see a picture of your finished retracts... I was not sure that they would work... always nice to have someone do the hard work...
I have not startet making a set myself yet as I´m going to try to make them servo/electric operated by means of a jackscrew instead... In a 15min flight I can easily make 8-10 landings/takeoffs, and as far as I know you would need quite a lot of air to get that many cycles.

Default Prototype retracts photos

Here's a picture of the retract in the up position. Note that I haven't quite sorted out the best way to join the two sides together yet!
