autocad 2000
HELP, my computer crashed and I had to reinstall everything. I have autocad 2000 and when I try to install it with the serial # and key it tells me during load up that the serial # is not valid. How can I get it to reload? TIA Greg

I'm still using R14 because I can't afford nor justify the upgrade. It uses "fixed" registration numbers so whenever I have to reinstall it, I use the original numbers I got from AutoDesk.
However. on some newer programs, each time the program is installed, a new random number is required that only the software maker can give you.
So yea, you may have to contact AutoDesk to get a new install number but their support is excellent and it will only take a minute on the phone.

From Autocad 2000 and up you don't need to phone them. When you have installed autocad and started it up it says that it wants to register and you can do this online thru the internet but if it's registerd to another person you are in trubble. At least it is like this for us here in Sweden where autocad mechanical desktop cost around $8200.

Serial Number
If you are typing the number and key in correctly, it should reload fine. Be sure that you aren't typing an (8) for a (B). Sometimes the printing on the tag is so small it is hard to read......
Is this a multi-user license.....? If so the "licensee" could have upgraded to 2002 or 2004, but if you are in the license agreement, you should have the upgrade. If this is software you purchased for your self, and you are the "licensee", a simple call to Autodesk will solve your problem. As the above poster said, Autodesk has great CUSTOMER service.
I have single license Auto CAD 2004, with Mechanical Desktop and Inventor. Have been using Auto CAD for 25 years, and have never had any issues with loading. I reformat my drives, probably every 6 months (to clean up trash) and have never had a problem reloading any software........
