Spitfire Kit
Can anyone recomend a Spitfire kit. I want to build a model of the prototype about 1/6 scale. A Mk I or Mk II would probably be fine as changes would be minimal, the Mk IX has dimensonal differences that would make things more difficult. Also a lot of models out there are near scale, is this done to make them more flyable. Comments welcome.

RE: Spitfire Kit
The only kit I can think of for the early Mark Spitfires is the DB Sport and Scale offering which is a bit bigger than 1/6 scale at 81 inches span. Traplet in the UK offer the Brian Taylor plans and accessories for a Mk.I which, at 69 inches, is a bit smaller than 1/6 scale. Bob Holman here in the States may still have a laser cut parts package for the Taylor airplane. Pica (mentioned above) made two Spitfire kits, a 1/7 scale and a 1/5 scale. They most closely resemble the Mk.IX but neither could really be called scale and both would need a tremendous amount of work to accurately resemble K5054.
