RE: Hughes H-1 1/4 scale
Hello everyone
the progress is a bit slow but there is some.
As I'm trying to figure it out with the retracts I started the aluminum covering. starting from the tail section it proved to be very
difficult. Anyway first thing to do was to photocopy the plan and then cut the panels with a scissor and mark them on the fuselage.
Then I used masking tape for the outline of the panel. After that I used a slightly bigger piece of adhesive aluminum foil to fill in
and cutted the rest aluminum with a razor

The time for the retracts has come.
After taking some things under consideration and with the help of a fellow modeler with great experience we decided
that the undercarriage will be the eurocit air spring activated giant units for safety reasons. The strats are going to be
made out of 5mm thick aluminum cutted to shape of the real thing

Tim Hooper did an aluminum tape covered biplane some time ago:

I think his build is probably on some other sites too.
He mentions using a product called Brasso: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brasso

Thanks a lot for the tip. To tell you the truth at first back at the store there were 2 products side by side Brasso and Silvo.
For some reason I chose silvo at first with not so good results.I hope that this will do the job.
