yes,,,,mastercam,smartcam ,surfcam any many more out there can be used to cut templates,,,i use it for cutting templa tes,making machine parts, molds etc,very good software,but expensive,,forgot also have to have a cnc vertical machining center,,,,or something that will except "g" code format,or converational langauge,,dean is that you drop a e-mail

Everyone above is correct. I have used MasterCam for just over 15 years and I am a Beta user fro them. It is great software for CNC machining and I use it on all of my planes including 5-axis programming I draw 3D surface models then CNC machine master plugs for fiberglass molds. It is costly however and if you were thinking of purchasing it just for the hobby that would be overkill. You can get student copies very inexpensive if you know anyone in college.
