Default Spinner Profiles / Cross-Sections

Hi Guys,

I'm working on making a set of plans and I'm hoping that someone can point me towards a database of spinner side-views. All of the vendor photos are from oblique top-quarter angles, and it's tough to get a read on the true profile.

It would be nice to see them from a pure side-view so I can design the nose geometry to match the curve. I'm hoping to design the airplane around off-the-shelf hardware to keep the costs to a minimum.

Thanks

I hope you can find someone who knows more than I do. All I can recommend is you might try writing Tru-Turn or Dave Brown .I would think if anyone would have that kind of information on their spinners it would be those two suppliers. Tru-Turn does give you a straight side view of their spinners in their catalog. I understand what you are up against I have been through it too. I am working on top Flite Cessna 182 and had a heck of time finding the discontinued Cessna shaped spinner made to go with the kit. As for as I can tell Top Flite only made this spinner in red. I really hope someone proves me wrong on this one! I happen to luck into a discontinued spinner for the Great Planes Lear Jet and discovered it was the same spinner except in white. Now I have at least have a choice of two colors without having to go to a more expensive aluminum spinner and painting it.

Hey Dan!

You wouldn't by chance have outlines for the Ultimate shape in the 2" to 3" range would you? Thanks!

Flyer, I just fake it when I have to do a spinner. If I get more inspired, I use a contour gauge, if I have a good sample, trace it on to a piece of paper, scan it in and bring it in to AutoCad with the image command. Dan.

I found this at Tru-Turn.

Thanks mkoe! From the looks of the profiles I think I just found a Cessna shaped spinner!
